Planning for the future can be difficult and planning for the future in times of uncertainty can be exceptionally so.
What is future-basing and how can it help?
Future-basing® is a powerful process for creating a vision of how you want things to be. It is a specially structured way of thinking that makes it easier to:
- pick a date in the future by which time you want success
- define what you really want to achieve
- work out how to make it happen
Future-Basing can range from being a highly creative way of generating of new ideas and behaviours, to being tightly structured and specific too enabling rapid strategic planning. It is an ambition-building process that will work well for you as an individual, equally successful for teams, groups, companies, and large organisations.
It can be used for personal goal setting for individuals within those groups or for setting organisational aims and direction. Disparate groups with common aims – such as community groups – can develop motivation, understanding and creative ways of reaching their common goals.
For most people, thinking about the future (or planning) means trying to foresee what may happen so as to prepare for how to survive or succeed.
With Future-basing®, we choose a date for success in the calendar and learn to shape the future we prefer, rather than to cope with what fate serves up.
Since 1989, Future-basing® has helped in many parts of the world. People in many contexts, industries and sectors have imagined ideal futures and outcomes, built partnerships and agreements, and generated co-operation and common purpose in bringing them to life.
Future-basing® also fits neatly with the pressures and pace of modern worklife. It can help us meet the demands for constant change. Quick, flexible, and supremely adaptable to working rapidly, it is capable of producing detailed plans and decisions in limited time. As your goals change, so then can your means of getting there.
Participants in Future-basing events report immediate successes and increased engagement and motivation amongst their employees.
